Microsoft IE Security? (Counter) measures

I just got a security message on IE-7 blocking me from playing a game of backgammon on Micosoft's MSN Games site. I had never used the site before and probably wont go back again. What does this error from a browser and a web app from the same company say about Microsoft's communication issues, inter-program and interpersonal.

I use Microsoft's products everyday. So much so that I am not certain I would be comfortable without access to, well, Access. Actually I could live without Access, its Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a few others that I would miss in my day to day routine of pushing pixels and rerouting words.

It's not you Microsoft, it's me. I've grown to comfortable with where we were five years ago and can't seem to move forward. Yes, I know Vista looks cool and IE 7 finally caught up, but we have...security issues.

My mid-year resolution is to try out at least five new programs (any type) by year end. Any recommendations?
